Wellness & Prevention
Immunization & Wellness Care
As a loving owner, you’re responsible for your pet’s well-being. The time and effort you invest in your pet’s wellness program yields long-term rewards for both of you.
At Harden Ranch Veterinary Hospital, we recognize that each pet is unique. With that in mind, we design a wellness program specifically for your pet, including but not limited to a comprehensive physical examination, internal parasite testing, heartworm and flea control, vaccination program, spay and neuter procedures, and specialized blood tests for all life stages.
We also understand that not every pet requires the same vaccinations. We tailor our vaccine schedules based on the individual needs and unique lifestyles of each pet. Such a plan can help prevent common diseases and assist in detecting issues at early and easily treatable stages. Equally important, you’re taking a crucial step toward providing the best of care for your friend during his or her golden years.
Our senior plan includes:
- Urinary health check
- Glaucoma check

- Blood pressure monitoring
- Full chemistry blood panel
- Internal parasite test
- Thyroid test
- Electrocardiogram as recommended
- Diet and weight evaluation
These tests are not time intensive or difficult to do and can be performed during routine wellness exams.
Dangerous parasites are always present in the environment. We recommend regular fecal checks and deworming as the best way to prevent parasitic disease and the transmission of intestinal parasites among your pets and your family members.
Nutritional Counseling & Canine Weight Loss Program
Like their human counterparts, pets have trouble shaking off those extra pounds. Too many treats and not enough exercise leads to excessive weight gain, which can have far-reaching effects on your pet’s overall health.
Our veterinarians are experienced in developing an effective weight loss plan for your pet. Our program combines diet, exercise and Slentrol (a medication for the management of canine obesity). A referral to our Canine Swim Program may also be appropriate.
Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained and certified staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy and active. Please ask us for more information.
Avian & Exotic Pet Care
As the popularity of these exotic animals increases, veterinary medicine for these pets has expanded as well. With better public education in health, nutritional and environmental management, all species have a greater chance for living longer and healthier lives. We are experienced in the care and treatment of exotics.
